In many situations the owner of the building will be signing the lease agreement with the tenant. Sometimes the owner/landlord may appoint an agent to sign on its behalf. If the legal owner is not the person signing the lease, the relationship of the named landlord to the legal owner should be listed in the lease. It may also be a good idea tho receive written proof that the individual signing for the owner has the authority to act on behalf of and bind the owner. For example, some property management companies are only hired to manage and maintain the building, but do not have authority to enter into leases. The property management company should be able to produce the document authorizing it to sign the lease.
